We’re excited to welcome Maggie (Magdalena Garza Orozco Pareja) and Manuel Barrientos Arriaga to Vallarta Yacht Club!
This adventurous duo shares a love of the ocean, whether through sailing, surfing, scuba diving, or simply enjoying life by the sea.
Born in Mexico City, Manuel moved to the coast in search of a life close to the water. In 1997, he established Organic Café, an espresso bar that has become a beloved local spot. When he’s not pulling shots of espresso, you’ll often find him scanning the forecast for the next big swell to surf, or waiting for the calm glassy summer waters perfect for diving. He’s now setting his sights on learning sailing skills with the dream of one day crossing the Mar de Cortez to Baja.

aggie was born in Jalisco, and her connection to the sea started early. As a child, she spent long stretches camping with her family at Majahuas Beach, where she learned to swim and fell in love with life on the water. Today, she works at Aerotron air terminal in Puerto Vallarta, and she’s already diving into the sailing world with enthusiasm. Under the guidance of coach Karla Moreno, Maggie has taken lessons and even competed in two regattas aboard the Dreadnought. She’s eager to continue honing her skills and hopes to keep racing—whether solo or as part of a team.
For Maggie, nothing compares to the thrill of sailing the sea alongside her favorite people. Together, she and Manuel bring a shared passion for the ocean and fresh energy to the club. We’re delighted to welcome them to the VYC family and look forward to seeing where their sailing journey takes them!
