Dear Members and Guests,
Since its establishment in 2002, the Vallarta Yacht Club has evolved into a premier member-owned and operated yachting and social club serving the Banderas Bay Area community. From its humble beginnings, VYC has expanded to over 200 members from around the globe.
Our mission to foster a love for life on the water has led to the development of a diverse range of programs. These include a junior sailing program with participants competing at national, international, and Olympic levels, the Vallarta Sailing Foundation dedicated to charitable causes, and our popular VYC Junior Sailing Summer Camp. We proudly host and organize national and international sailing events, including the J24 World Championships, J70 North American Championships, and the WesMex International Small Boat Regatta.
In 2023, VYC relocated to a larger venue within Paradise Village Marina, enhancing our facilities. Our Picante Grill has quickly become a favorite spot for members and their guests. VYC offers a range of activities from game and movie nights to fundraisers and fiestas.
The growth and success of our club over the past two decades is a testament to the active involvement of our members without whom VYC would not be the dynamic club that it is today.

Have you ever met an Olympian? If you spend enough time at VYC, you might just cross paths with one. Our famous bay has been a training ground for several Olympians and aspiring Olympians, who have come through the club for various levels of support. From Tanya Callas, who competed in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, to Elena Oetling Ramirez, who represented Mexico in Paris this year, we are privileged to welcome these remarkable athletes and their competitive sailing spirit into our community.
After competing in the Paris Olympic Dinghy Sailing, Elena Oetling Ramirz eloquently expressed her feelings on competition and the philosophical wisdom in such a young person. She acknowledged support from VYC by saying, "Gracias @vallartayachtclub por el apoyo y cariño incondicional." - "Thank you @vallartayachtclub for the unconditional support and love."

Hello!
The ink is drying, we have a new home! We have reached an agreement with our longtime partners, the Paradise Village Group, to secure a new facility. Our rent will not change substantially and we anticipate having the new location for at least the next three to five years.
We are moving to the Bar/Restaurant in the commercial building where the Hospital and Immigration Offices are.
We do face some challenges however. A combination of events has upset our budget planning and we need help from our members to complete the move and keep club operations going through the end of the year. When we set the fees and dues schedule for 2023 the USD to Peso exchange rate was 19.5 to 1, since January it has dropped and is now under 17 to 1. We also face moving expenses and some un-budgeted purchases.
We have started a fundraising campaign we are calling “New Beginnings' '. We've set a goal of $45,000 USD to assure that we can meet our obligations and make the needed purchases to furnish our new home. We are keeping expenses as low as possible, but some of our equipment is very old and at the end of service life. We will need extra space for some of the equipment that may require either buying a container or creating some other form of storage in the dry marina. Some funding has been made available through the Vallarta Sailing Foundation but we still need member support!

Our last talks with FIBBA went very well and we have a verbal commitment for use of the old lot for regattas like WesMex, access to the pool and shower areas for our Junior Sailing Program, and permission to continue using the space on the side of the ramp to store some of our boats. We may even have a couple of FIBBA staff children as new students in our program.

We are working on our budget for next year. Our plan will include adding new members, added income from the other tenants of the building, a review of menu and drink pricing, as well as our annual revision of our dues and fee structure. We foresee a bright future and opportunities in this location that are not available in our old clubhouse. I think it is going to be fun, challenging at times perhaps, but VYC will be better and stronger by this time next year!

La tinta se está secando, ¡tenemos un nuevo hogar! Hemos llegado a un acuerdo con nuestros socios de larga data, el Grupo Paradise Village, para asegurar una nueva instalación. Nuestra renta no cambiará sustancialmente y anticipamos tener la nueva ubicación durante al menos los próximos tres a cinco años.
Nos mudamos al Bar/Restaurante en el edificio comercial donde se encuentran el Hospital y las Oficinas de Inmigración.
Sin embargo, enfrentamos algunos desafíos. Una combinación de eventos ha perturbado nuestra planificación presupuestaria y necesitamos ayuda de nuestros miembros para completar la mudanza y mantener las operaciones del club hasta fin de año. Cuando establecimos la programación de tarifas y cuotas para 2023, el tipo de cambio de USD a Peso era de 19.5 a 1; desde enero ha disminuido y ahora está por debajo de 17 a 1. También enfrentamos gastos de mudanza y algunas compras no presupuestadas.
Hemos iniciado una campaña de recaudación de fondos que llamamos "Nuevos Comienzos".
