Vallarta Yacht Club’s Junior Sailing program is celebrating an exciting milestone this summer: two of our very own sailors are stepping into new roles as coaches-in-training. Nico Palomera and Axel Argott, both products of the Junior Sailing program, are now taking the next step in their sailing journey by learning how to coach.
Having grown up on the water here in Banderas Bay, Nico and Axel bring not only sailing skills but also firsthand experience of what it’s like to be a young sailor in the program. Their enthusiasm, understanding, and ability to relate to the kids make them natural fits for this new role.
This transition from sailor to coach is part of what makes the Junior Sailing program so special—it builds leaders from within. As they train and gain experience, Nico and Axel will be helping the next generation of sailors gain confidence on the water, just as they once did.
