‍ Fall 2025

‍Commodore's Corner

‍

Hola Amigos!

What an incredible start to the season it has been! From the very first flag raising, you could feel the energy spark across the Club—the laughter around the patio bar, the buzz of friends reconnecting, and the excitement of new adventures already underway. There’s a special rhythm at Vallarta Yacht Club this time of year, and it’s clear we’re hitting our stride. The enthusiasm, momentum, and pure joy in these first weeks have set the tone for a truly outstanding season ahead.

As wonderful as our events and traditions are, it’s the people who bring this place to life. You create the warmth and camaraderie that make VYC more than just a club—it’s a community. And that community grows stronger every time someone brings a friend to join the fun.

As we sail deeper into the season, I encourage you to invite your friends, neighbors, visiting guests, or that couple you keep chatting with on the dock, on the beach, or around your neighborhood to come experience what makes VYC so special. Share a meal, bring them to a social night, or show them around the Club. Many of our members came through a simple invitation—and every new face adds to the spirit that makes VYC “the friendly little yacht club that can.”

The season is young, the energy is high, and together we’re building something truly exceptional. Let’s keep this party going!

Warm regards,

Sailor hiking

‍On the Water: Banderas Bay Blast - Dec 10-12th - Pirates for Pupils

In Honor of Mike Danielson

The Banderas Bay Blast marks the unofficial start of sailing on beautiful Bahia de Banderas, bringing cruisers, racers, and local sailors together for three days of lighthearted fun on the water while raising money for local school children. The Banderas Bay Blast has always been about camaraderie, easygoing adventure, and reconnecting with friends as the season begins.

This year, the event carries special significance. The 2025 Blast is dedicated to long-time friend and member Mike Danielson, who is facing health challenges and will not be able to participate as he has in years past. Mike’s enthusiasm, expertise, and spirit have shaped this event for many seasons, and his presence will be deeply felt even in his absence. Please note: Mike is in need of help in the form of monetary and blood donations. For more information on that: Mike Danielson Updates

Running December 10–12 and remaining a free, informal gathering, the Banderas Bay Blast continues to celebrate everything that makes our sailing community so special—grab your crew and sign up today!

‍How Junior Sailing Helped Raise our Girls

A Mother's Gratitude for Lifelong Confidence for Emilia and Martina

Ibis de Teresa enrolled her two daughters in the  VYC Junior Sailing program when they were just x and x years old. Now well into their 20s, Ibis attributes their adult successes to what they learned from being young sailors. In her own words, Ibis describes this experience:

"As a Junior sailing parent, I can truly say that for my daughter’s, Emilia and Martina, being part of the Junior Sailing Program at the Vallarta Yacht Club was one of the best choices we could have ever done for their upbringing and formation.
