navidadenplaya An annual tradition at VYC: We meet at El Coral Restaurant on Las Animas beach for Christmas. There is usually good cellular coverage so you can send those "On the beach in Mexico" photos to your friends and family that are stuck in the snow. The drinks and food are good, the prices reasonable, and the people watching is great. Plan to stake out your bit of beach before 12:00. Bring a towel, bug goop, a smile, and some pesos, it's a great day!

Many boats welcome extra passengers - this year we would like to see 75-100 people! No need to be formal - we have been invading the beach at Las Animas for years! Use the VHF net on 22a for rides wanted / offered, or just call the VYC office at 322-297-2222.

Banderas Bay Blast / Pirates for Pupils

Banderas Bay Blast is a fun race that encompasses two days:

DECEMER 28,29

**DAY 1: ** Three-class start off La Cruz (If Pigs Could Fly, Plastic Fantasticks, Herding Cats, Those Guys Who Think They Are Fast). Weather Mark approximately 1.5 miles to weather, port rounding and head for mark off Nuevo Vallarta breakwater, port rounding and back to La Cruz. Past the start mark to starboard and finish. Start around 1pm. Listen to VHF channel 72 for on-radio skippers meeting, or attend live skippers meeting at Poolside Deli at La Cruz Marina at 10:30.

Slips for non-marina residents who normally stay in other marinas (please bring proof). Those who intend to spend the night at La Cruz marina should notify the marina to get your special event rate.

**DAY 1 Evening: **Oso’s Marina Restaurant will host an outdoor evening gathering with Live music and loads of fun with a GAM shout-out about all the cool events we will be doing on Bandras Bay in 2021! (Covid-19 rules apply)

Dress up in support of Pirates for Pupils, and please donate!

**DAY 2: **A fun costal climb West ¾ of the way to Pt. Mita and return down wind. Pursuit-start. All boats will receive their start times in the morning, posted at the Poolside Deli and announced after the Morning Cruisers' Net on 72. And Poolside Deli at 10:30

**Pirates for Pupils: **Given the Covid-19 we are not going to have our usual run from Pt. Mita. … BUT… We’re looking at the entire event as a chance to donate to education supplies… Please help and gilt your crew and Captain to donate!

We recognize that anytime that two or more sailboats are going in the same direction, they are usually trying to race each other! We encourage side-bets between competitors, with the loser paying the results to charity. Any bets - first to the mark, last to the mark, first to finish, least number of tacks, whatever! Announce your bet on the radio, talk a little trash, and make it fun.

REMEMBER this is a fun race for charity. Dress up, use your squirt guns, joke around. It's all for the kids.

The action-packed Banderas Bay Blast, is two days of 'nothing serious' sailing fun as well as sailor socializing on land. The fun is set for two days: the Banderas Bay Blast December 28-29 in support of Pirates for Pupils. This event is sponsored by, Marina La Cruz, Vallarta Yacht Club, and PV Sailing

The event will start at La Cruz Marina around noon on December 28th for a sail around the bay, then back to La Cruz for an evening gathering at the Oso’s Marina Restaurant. Dress like Pirates and support our charity.
