The following article was recently posted on the website of the Mexican Sailing Federation so it seems fitting that this information be shared with the membership! This news is a reflection of not only the great property we live in but also the spirit of the membership of Vallarta Yacht Club and it's contribution to sailing events on Banderas Bay.
The Executive Committee of the Pan American Sailing Federation met at Paradise Village in Nuevo Vallarta and Vallarta Yacht Club from the 9th to the 12th of October to review the facility and discuss the progress in organizing the sailing events of the Guadalajara 2011 Pan American Games. COJOG Assistant Director of Sports Events, Valentin Yanes, said the event will be held in the waters of Nuevo Vallarta, and offered to have an answer about acceptance of the Vallarta Yacht Club to host the event. On October 20 it had received confirmation of acceptance of VYC as the official host of the event.
It is already preparing the budget requirements for equipment, personnel and services necessary for the Pan American Pre regatta which will be held from 21 to 29 October 2010. The Pan American Pre regatta will serve as a qualifier for the 2011 Pan American Games and will also serve to test and refine all systems and operations in preparations for the main event of 2011.The events will be:

Laser - Men
Laser Radial - Women
Sunfish - Open
Snipe - Open
Lightning - Open
Hobie Cat 16 - Open
J-24 - Open
Ms. Beatriz González Luna has been named Chairman of the Organizing Committee and the Vallarta Yacht Club Commodore, Ms. Linda Green, will work closely with her in the organization and preparations for both events.
