Committee Boat Suite

File Name: cbs installb3c.zip
File Size: 643.53 kB
Author: Charles Simon
Email: cbs[at]vallartayachtclub[dot]org
Date: 30. April 2012
Description:

Committee Boat Suite is a deck aid for the race officer. Pre-plan race courses, import competitors, and predict course times based on boat polars. CBS will also do a verbal countdown of races, time the race, update predicted race times based on mark times, and record finish times. While Committee Boat Suite will work well as a stand-alone system, it can also be used in conjunction with Sailwave race scoring software. More information about Sailwave is available here. Committee Boat Suite is freeware.

New Update on 5-5-2012.

Many thanks to Charlie Simon, who worked so hard to make this program possible.

Email comment from Matt Read
"CBS Version: lastest 2nd feb

OS: win 7

Issue/Symptoms: is it possible to have the split times in minutes and seconds instead of minutes and then tenths? Looks good so far and cant wait to use it. The problem I commented about on you club site with the marks moving when you zoom in and out seems to be fixed."

Quoting Fredrik:
Does it handle pursuit starts?

Sorry, I'm afraid not. We don't do a lot of pursuit starts at our club.
It might be an interesting feature for the future, however.

Are you considering development for iOS or Android?

Hi,

What a piece of diamond you have created!! I noticed that the last update is more than one year old so I wonder is there any support for the CBS anymore? I installed the software but noticed that it was impossible to place the Race Comittee boat where I wanted. Any solutions?

Hi Kimmo,
Unfortunately, there have been no updates in the past year. The author is cruising around the world and won't be in a position to do anything until 2015!

Can you please explain your problem with placing the Committee Boat? Perhaps I can help.

Hi Andy,
It's sad that this kind project is on hold for two more years, but good for him (author) to have that kind of unforgettable experience : ).

We are couple of guys in our club who are interested in developing arranging races. We would like to automate some basic procedures to get more time for setting up race course and concentrate on start procedure. So CBS is very helpful when calculating trapezoid course marks.

I tried to give the race committee boat our coordinates but the program refused to keep them. Every time when I moved cursor to next box the coordinates changed. So my race committee boat is somewhere in the desert ; )

Maybe there is some work around for this? Thanks for your help in advance!

Unfortunately, I can't seem to duplicate your problem!

If you are sure you have the latest version of the software, can you perhaps give me a step-by-step that causes your problem to occur? Also, it might help to know what version of Windows you are using.

Kimmo,
I passed your problem to one of the other guys who use CBS. Here was his response: "The program is finicky about some things.

Look at the "fixed" box and the "origin" radio button.

I'm not quite sure I understand the question/problem. What exactly are they trying to do? Sending us the "marks" file and telling us exactly what mark he is working with might let us duplicate the issue."
