    Icom IC M802 Made Simple for Cruisers - Terry Sparks

    altThis training will provide the cruiser with important knowledge about the Icom IC M802 (HF SSB) that most cruisers are not aware of and is not in the manual.

    The class will provide an overview of the HF SSB system, Digital Selective calling Distress, Urgent, and Safety calls, Digital Selective Calling to other cruisers, and the link cruisers have to the many commercial vessels via the GMDSS system.

    Radar Made Simple for Cruisers - Terry Sparks

    altThis training will provide the cruiser with an understanding of how to best use their radar while cruising shorthanded.  While on watch alone in the cockpit, all cruisers should know how to utilize the Relative Bearing Line, Variable Range marker, and the cursor to determine collision potential and closest point of approach of another vessel with minimal effort.  The class will also provide some basic training on how to use your radar as a backup navigation device to the GPS.

    The Islands of Tonga; a cruising destination - Sylvia Fox and Michael Fitzgerald

    altThe islands of the Kingdom of Tonga offer hundreds of protected anchorages, crystal clear waters for snorkeling and diving and an annual sailing regatta for cruisers. And it's one of the only places in the world where you can safely swim with the Humpback whales, a protected species in Tongan waters.  Sylvia Fox and Michael Fitzgerald, cruisers and journalists, will present a video and slide presentation of the annual Regatta Vava'u, cruising Tonga and swimming with the whales from their visit there in September.
