Things change but our commitment remains the same.
We would like to welcome The Navy League of Puerto Vallarta to the VYC Community Action Program.
When the VYC Community Action Program was implemented July, 2011 an organized program was established to support for primarily two organizations: Families at the Dump (FAD) and PEACE. In addition, information is distributed on programs of the Bucerias Bilingual Community Center (BBCC) through the VYC website and calendar.
Recently PEACE restructured. The "old" Peace was liquidated and a new PEACE was formed with fewer activities and smaller radius of activity, and they now provide programs only to Punta Mita and a few close-by areas and the September North Bay-wide food drive by PEACE was cancelled. Given this change, we revisited and revised the VYC Community Action Program.
The revised plan for the VYC Community Action Program is to support the Navy League of Puerto Vallarta, in addition to supporting FAD. The Navy League is an outstanding organization that fits well with the objectives, criteria and intent of the VYC program. Their charitable activities range across greater Banderas Bay with playgrounds they have built, the Toys for Tots program, and COMRELs. (COMRELs are community relations programs of painting, repairs, etc for needy charitable organizations, organized with visiting US ship crews and Navy League volunteers).
We are excited about this new direction with the VYC community support. Watch for ongoing news and updates in the Community Action section of the VYC website, such as their upcoming benefit event.
